How to Log On and Log Off with Marine Rescue Western Australia using the DECKEE app

Updated today

If you are located in Western Australia, the DECKEE app enables you to Log On and Log Off directly with Marine Rescue Western Australia via your mobile phone, as an alternative to using marine radio.

This capability is an extension of the Plan feature that is available to all DECKEE users globally. A copy of your plan details can be provided to Marine Rescue so they are aware of your intentions and can provide you with rescue assistance in an emergency.

Video walkthroughs

The brief videos below walks you through the quick and easy process. Otherwise, read on below for the step by step guide.

Make sure your boat information is up-to-date before you start the Log On process. Some watercraft details are required for the Log On process.

1. Tap the Log On button

Tap on the Log on button at the top left of screen. This will only be visible in the app if you are located in Western Australia.

2. Fill out your Plan details

Ensure the toggle switch for Marine Rescue WA is turned on, then enter the following information to your plan:

  • Select the right watercraft from your DECKEE profile

  • Add at least one emergency contact that will receive a copy of your plan

  • Select whether you are taking a return trip or a one-way trip

  • Enter your time and date of return or arrival

  • If any diving will occur on your trip, tap the checkbox

  • Enter the number of passengers on board

Where possible, DECKEE will pre-fill information for you, including all your required watercraft details if you have previously saved them to your profile. It's a good idea to do this to save your re-entering the information again in future.

3. Add waypoints

The final step is to add your waypoints. Enter a start point, end point and any other relevant waypoints in between that you will navigate to.

You can either search for the name of a waypoint (like a boat ramp or marina), or select Choose on map to drag and drop a location instead.

When you are ready, tap Confirm.

If you selected Return Trip on the previous screen, your End point will automatically default to the same as your Start point.

4. Log on confirmation

A screen will appear with a green tick, confirming you have successfully logged on with Marine Rescue WA.

5. Update your plan or log off

During your trip, you can update your plan or log off at any time by tapping the Logged on button in the top left corner of screen.

Tap Update plan to update the details that you originally submitted when you logged on. You can change waypoints, the number of passengers on board, your planned return time and more.

If you have arrived or returned safely and you are ready to log off, tap Log off and then confirm. Marine Rescue WA will be automatically notified.
